Cabin Location

General Information

1. The cabin is located at 10,000 feet. Dress accordingly. The temperature is roughly 20 degrees cooler than in Denver. If you are coming from a low elevation, be aware of possible altitude sickness. Please visit this link on FamilyDoctor.org to read about altitude sickness: High-Altitude Illness: How to Avoid It and How to Treat It

2. There is a phone at cabin for local calls and for emergencies (719-486-1174). Cell phones will not work at the cabin (but there is reception about one-half mile away).

3. The cabin can sleep 6 comfortably. The master bedroom has a queen bed, the guest bedroom has two twins w/bridge to convert to king, there is sleeper sofa in the living room and a futon in family room. There are also several air mattresses in the closet available for use.

4. We encourage our guests to bring their own linens. As an option, you can use the linens that are at the cabin. If you use the cabin linens, we ask that you wash and return them. For larger groups, we suggest you also bring sleeping bags.

5. The cabin is not inhabited continuously and there is potential for freezing in winter. It takes just a few minutes to open the cabin when you get there and about one hour to close it at the end of your stay. A detailed checklist is provided. Please plan your time accordingly.

6. The water initally has a slight mineral taste and slight coloring (it will clear up after a couple days). However, it is safe to drink. You may choose to bring bottled water for drinking. There is also a Brita pitcher.

7. There is a notebook of information at the cabin to help make the most of your trip.
